Favorite & Easy Dinner Rolls

These are our ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ROLLS EVER!   And they only take 2 hours from start to finish!  I always bring these to family dinners and they are gone quickly.  The recipe below makes about 12 small rolls, I usually double it for gatherings.  Sometimes triple!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 Tbs butter
  • 2 cups all purpose white flour, plus another 1/2 cup or so for kneading
  • 1 pkg rapid rise yeast (or 2 1/4 tsp)
  • 2 Tbs sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Measure out 1/2 cup milk and 1/4 cup water in a glass measuring cup, add your 2 TBS butter, then microwave for 30 seconds.  Stir to melt butter.  Test the temp of the liquid, it should be around 100 degrees.  Microwave longer if need be.

In bowl of a stand mixer combine all dry ingredients by mixing on “stir” for 30 seconds, then slowly pour in liquid with mixer on low.

Mix on speed 2-4 for 5 min until completely combined, and dough is pulled away from sides of bowl and sticking to the dough hook. IMG_7893 IMG_7894

Form dough into a ball and leave in oiled bowl covered by a towel to rise for about 45 min- hour (I put mine in the microwave so there’s no draft on it ever).  It should about double in size.  IMG_7896 IMG_7897

Then divide dough into about 12 (or 24 or 36, depending on batch size) rolls.  Roll them into a ball with hands and place in a lightly greased baking pan. IMG_7898 IMG_7900

Preheat oven to 375 and let rolls rise 30 more minutes covered in the pan on top of the oven.

Bake for 20 min at 375.  Enjoy! IMG_7904 IMG_7905

Thanks to my sister-in-law Rebecca for sharing her mom’s roll recipe with me! This was the first yeast bread I ever made and it began a love of bread/ roll making!!

They are soooo good! Better than any restaurant rolls. Especially good with apple butter.
